WHYY Media Labs are a three year partnership that seed media production programs in partner schools. WHYY provides media equipment and a WHYY media instructor, who trains teachers to use media production in classrooms and runs after-school programs in news or documentary production. Each year, the teachers take on more responsibility for the programming with goal of establish a self-sustaining program after three years. Some schools also have summer media labs, which serve as employment sites for our pathways to media careers program. WHYY serves all types of public Philadelphia schools (K-8s, middles, high schools, neighborhood schools, magnets, etc) as well as a few charters and parochial schools.
