Medford—Southern Oregon PBS and local school partners are working to bring media industry experience for a few aspiring journalism students in Southern Oregon through a new media arts pilot program that is in its second year. SO SRL Club members are engaged in media arts Career Technical Education (CTE) training, related to producing industry standard news stories. SO PBS Education Manager, Ben Garcia, has attended PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs (SRL) training with seasoned journalists at the PBS NewsHour over the last four summers, which has resulted in being certified by PBS Newshour to teach students and teachers industry standard video journalism skills.
