RadioActive Youth Media is KUOW Public Radio’s journalism and audio storytelling program for young people. At RadioActive, youth in the Pacific Northwest discover public radio journalism and gain access to the skills, community and institutional resources that spur their growth as media makers. Through their stories, listeners of all ages gain a deeper understanding of young people whose voices are rarely heard by the greater public. RadioActive became a year-round program at KUOW in 2013, and as of 2022, the program has 3.5 full-time staff members and has served more than 6,000 youth. You can find RadioActive stories, self-guided activities for teens, and resources for educators at kuow.org/radioactive.
