In partnership with the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts, WICN developed the “Girls in Radio” program in which participants come to the WICN offices and studios and learn how to market Girl Scout Cookies online and in newsletters. The Girl Scouts each create their own cookie pitch, and the winner was broadcast on our “Business Beat” program. Girls in Radio also includes an informational session on STEM careers in radio for women in
the industry. The goal is to foster an inclusive environment in which these girls develop an interest in STEM and learn about new technical areas that they may explore further in school or in their careers.
